Overview
In comparison to Wi-Fi where data is transmitted over the air, Power-Line Communication (PLC) enables data to be transmitted via traditional power lines or through our home electrical outlets.
PLC enables devices to connect to the Internet through your broadband router without the need to run long Ethernet cables.

Yardian and PLC Adapter (Security Key) Reset
Similar to SSID/Password for Wi-Fi, there’s 128-bit AES Link Encryption (security key) for PLC to ensure data security.
To reset a PLC device means this device will forget/erase its current security key and use a factory default key. In this case, this device is ready to be assigned a new security key to form/join a secure network, or it can simply talk to any device that has been reset (using the same factory default key).
To reset, simply press and hold Sync Button for more than 10 sec then release. All three lights will be off then turned on again.
Yardian and PLC Adapter (Security Key) Pairing
When you pair two PLC devices together, it means you create and/or join a secured network between the two devices.
The “Sync Button” on PLC devices is also used to set up a “common security key” to form a secure network. Devices with the same security key can talk to each other, thus in the same network. Simply press and hold the Sync Button for 1-3 seconds (no more than 3 seconds) then release. The “Power Light” will be flashing and the “PLC Link Light” will be off for 2 minutes.
This PLC device will be in “pairing mode” for 2 minutes, allowing any other PLC devices also in pairing mode to accept the new security key and thus “paired”.
PLC in Yardian
Your Yardian and PLC Adapter are paired when manufactured (share the same security key and in the same network).
Simply plug-in as instructed and Yardian will be up and running.
If the “PLC link light” on either Yardian or the PLC Adapter is off, try to Reset both Yardian and PLC Adapter. They should be connected using the same factory default security key.
You can then “pair” them by pressing and holding the Sync Button for 1-3 seconds (not necessarily at the same time, but within 2 min) to create a secured network between them and ensure data security.
