Water Hammer Reduction

I just installed your Yardian Pro 12-station controller and everything seems to be working well so far. I just had a question about the water hammer reduction feature.

I note that this feature is turned off by default. The antique Rain Bird controller I just replaced didn't have such a feature (as far as I know) and there did not seem to be any ill effects. However, as I read the feature and the rationale for it, it seems like it would be a good thing to enable just in case. Is there any downside to enabling it for, say, 10 seconds? Would this be easier on the valves than not using it?

  Hi Alan,

  I would suggest to try 2 seconds.
  We have an option for 10 seconds but it's probably not necessary :)

  Actually, one possible reason not to do it occurred to me. When two valves are opened at the same time this would increase the current draw for the duration of the overlap. So might it depend on how power hungry a particular set of valves is?

  Hi Alan,

  The maximum output current from the Yardian Pro is 1A so It should be ok to turn on 2 valves at the same time.
  Yardian Pro is also protected by its circuit when the current is over the limit.
