Update the My Yard Widget

The My Yard widget on the Main Screen is rather useless except for selecting a zone. It could be so much more:

• Use Zone Name instead of number
• Option to use Zone Picture
• Hide any unused Zone
• Drag to rearrange Zones
• Option to use Map Layout*
• Zone order is Program order
• Include next Start Time if within 24 hours
• Highlight any running Zone (include progress bar)
• Highlight any Zone that has issues
• Bottom Border indicates Soil Moisture

Tap Zone to open Quick Context Menu: 

• Edit Zone
• Skip Next Program Time
• Stop if running / Skip to next Zone if in Program
• Start if no zones running (default time for Zone)

 

*Map Layout View: Basically the ability to size each zone Horizontally and Vertically. Could even be automatic based on Square Footage entered for zone. Would require entry of Square Footage via length/width and basic shapes (think Tetris). Shrubbery and other special zones could be simple Rows at bottom or top of layout.

 

It would be nice if this widget could be added to your Home Screen. Just some ideas. So far I am really impressed with what this can do.

  I have created a mockup of what this could look like

  
  

  The bottom menu would not be needed at all, since tapping a tile in the My Yard widget does the same thing as what you get in the Yard menu. The Control menu and Program menu get moved to the heading of the MyYard (currently showing “Watering now”). 

  You could be able to drag and drop the tiles to change the order in which the zones run (maybe can be configured in Program setup) .

  Each tile has a “Soil Moisture Level” bar at the bottom, which lets you quickly see that metric. A Blue bar above that indicates that the zone is watering. A dark green/brown indicates well watered, with the colors fading through yellow as the level drops.

  A check indicates that the zone has completed today, with a Timer icon for zones that will run next and drop with slash icon indicating that the zone will skipped. When not watering these would show date and time of next program
